Unsere Tribute Peppers werden im Dorf Qingxi angebaut. Das kleine Dorf produziert eine Sorte namens Gongjiao (Tribut-Pfeffer), die aufgrund ihrer vielfältigen Verwendungsmöglichkeiten so geschätzt wird, dass sie dem Kaiser als Tribut dargebracht wurde. Sie wird äußerst sorgfältig von Hand gepflückt, um ihre empfindlichen Öle zu bewahren. Ganz in lange Schmorgerichte und Eintöpfe geworfen oder geröstet und gemahlen, um ikonische Gerichte wie Mapo Tofu und zweimal gekochtes Schweinefleisch zu veredeln, verleiht frisch geernteter Gongjiao den Gerichten mit der charakteristischen Sichuan-numbenden Schärfe und einem berauschenden Zitrusbouquet eine elektrisierende Note.
